Leene Aavik is an accomplished Australian
artist. She lives in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Queensland,
Australia. As well as painting and undertaking artist commissions,
Leene also assists interior decorators in their choice of colours.
Her artists eye has certainly helped her in this role of an interior
design colour consultant.
Leene's art can be seen on this site, or by visiting
her at the famous Eumundi Markets on any Saturday or Wednesday.
Her collections include landscapes and abstracts of wide ranging
subjects.
Though she now makes Australia her home, Leene was
born in Germany of Estonian parents. She is descended from a line
of artists - Karl Timoleon Von Neff was a court painter to Nicholas
I, Tsar of Russia and her father, Edgar Aavik, was an artists teacher
and exhibiting artist whose paintings were displayed in such places
as London, Paris, Chicago and New York.
In 1948 the family moved to Australia where, in New
South Wales, Leene herself started to draw and where at 7 years
of age, she subsequently sold her first coloured drawing for 2 pounds.
Self taught from observing her father, Leene developed
her own style through the years and now paints in any medium which
catches her fancy in a spontaneous, abstract, impressionistic style
full of vivacity.
Leene has won several artists awards in shows at Toowoomba,
Warwick and Stanthorpe (all in Queensland, Australia). Her paintings
are in collections in Estonia, Sweden, The Channel Islands, and
the USA as well as Australia. She also exhibits in several galleries
in Queensland and New South Wales, Australia.
Leene's work has been favourably covered by media
art writers and she has recently been selected for display on the
rear cover of "Reader's Digest" (Australia) magazine. |
